Charging Issue

Last night when I put my 5s on charge (plugging the lightning cable into the wall and the phone) and turned the power on the usual noise and large green battery icon did not appear on the screen. I turned off the power from the wall, turned back on again and the large green battery icon appeared but with a very loud correct associated noise. I'm wondering if this is a once off issue or has any other users had the same experience? What could have happened to cause this?

I am not facing this problem, though I'm using 5s since last month.If you face the problem regularly the contact to the store as soon as possible.
