9to5 Mac reports that a new link has been discovered for a .mp4 video in Safari that, if clicked on, will slow your iPhone or iPad right down until it eventually freezes completely and then requires a hard reset in order to get it working again.
The issue was first discovered by YouTuber EverythingApplePro, who posted about it on YouTube. Basically, when you click on the malicious link, the video in Safari will overload iOS on your device so much that it will be temporarily unusable.
It’s not clear exactly why this happens whenever the particular link is clicked on, and it seems to affect iOS builds going back as far as iOS 5.
Should you happen to have mistakenly clicked on the link if it has been sent to you, simply hard reboot your device and that should fix it. Presumably Apple will also be offering a software fix very soon as well.
