Can you please help.....I amended a friends phone number in my Contacts. I clicked Edit and changed the number ....all done ....fine. However when I go to Messages and search this friend to send a message she is also listed showing the old number. In Contacts all is correct and only one name and one number showing for this friend. How can I get rid of this. I have two friends with the same problem. We all have iPhone 4S. Apple technical couldn't help!!!!!!

There is no help for this. iOS messaging keeps every detail separated by an ID. IE you have older text messages that came in with the old phone number and now with the new phone numbers. Those are two separate IDs and can't be combined into a single thread.
Could Apple write a piece of software to merge the data? Sure. Will they? Probably not.

Thank you for your reply. I was worried it might be something like that. So does that mean if say 20 people in my contacts changed their numbers that I would have all if them twice in messages!!!!!! Now I know why I loved my Samsung Galaxy ll so much.
