'The first modern crusades were prepared by Arthur Wynne and published in the New York World in 1913. However a crude form of the game existed in ancient Egypt. During the Second World War, the British armed forces recruited experts in crosswords to decipher codes. '

Well I'm glad I didn't buy it. The crosswords don't make sense. The whole word goes across the blanks too. One question was your brother might make sense of this. It was 1-6-4 the answer was y-brutha-yeah. That's not a crossword.

Hi!

As you probably know, there are a lot of types of crosswords depending on each Country.

I'm Portuguese and this is the type of crosswords we use in Portugal and in a lot of other countries, but i know other countries use differente types of crosswords that as you i personally say also 'these are not crosswords'.

In these type of crosswords, you get hints for all the words in selected lines or all the words in the select columns.

If the green arrow is pointing down the hints are for the active column, if the arrow is pointing forward the hints you see is for the words in active line.

For example, if you have this hint for the current line, probably the solution is:

An informal word for
yes. word used in general slang meaning brother.

y-brutha-yeah.

The meaning for different words are separated by "."

An informal word for
yes.
word used in general slang meaning brother.

In your country probably you don't use this king of crosswords. I personaly think the other types of crosswords 'weird' because i'm used to this kind.

THX!
