I have a Cydia Icon but once I click it, the screen just flashes and nothing happens.
A little background: I, via Absinthe 2.0.1 attempted the install, failed with the "could not connect to lockdownd".
I was a little irritated, but I figured I would come back to it after doing some research. I followed through with the recovery, so I could go to work the next morning. (had serious issues, ended up with losing my recovery on PC). Lucky I had ICloud, but here is another problem, ICloud has created a backup after the failed Cydia install... so everytime I recover, Cydia is there "broken". Am I screwed or is there hope for me?

Thanks for any help

The problem here is most likely that you used a backup that bad problems in it.

I don't think there is a simple fix to get Cydia working for you.

Restore your device in iTunes and "setup as new". DO NOT restore from backup.
You are probably having problems because you restored to a flawed backup file.

DFU restore in iTunes. Setup as new device and do not restore from an iCloud backup or an iTunes backup.

Contacts, Notes, Reminders, anything toggled on in Settings> iCloud will always be restored to your device even if you setup as new and don't restore from backup.

This is your best bet.

This is why I never restore from a backup.

What about texts, I assume they will not "keep". Just the essentials, as you mentioned.

Yes.
You will lose all SMS and call history.

You can still backup your SMS manually(without backing up the whole phone w/ iTunes) if you would like.

Using iFile open iFile and navigate to:
/private/var/mobile/Library/SMS

Tap "Edit" in the top right corner, select "sms.db" so there is a red check mark beside it.
Tap the envelope symbol.
Simply email sms.db to yourself.

Or you can just SSH to your phone via i-FubBox.

Plug in phone
Open i-FunBox
Click on "Raw File System"
navigate to: private/var/mobile/Library/SMS

Simply drag sms.db to the desktop.

After restore and jailbreak...Just open i-FunBox with iPhone plugged in, navigate back to private/var/mobile/Library/SMS/
And delete the sms.db that is there, then drop your backed up sms.db.

It is really very simple once you have done it once.
