Music Radar reports today that David Bowie is to launch a new iOS app on June 6 featuring his 1975 single, Golden Years, which will be fully remixable. According to Music Radar, the app will have eight stem files, consisting of Bowies lead vocal, 12-string guitar, bass, drums, guitar, harmonium, percussion (congas, blocks and claps) and backing vocals. The tracks were specially prepared for use in the app by Harry Maslin, the producer of Station To Station, the album that spawned the song. The app will provide a multitrack view of the song, the ability to create and save your mix and export it as an MP3, as well as a Shake to Mix feature which will launch a random mix when you shake your iPhone. No word as yet on pricing. I wonder why they only put one song on the app, a whole albums worth would have been better, surely?
