Deactivated iPhone 4

I bought an AT&T iPhone 4 from someone and it was working without a SIM card inserted. I was able to use apps and everything.

I went to Settings and erased all content because it wasn't my stuff on it.

Then it left me at a screen which tells me to insert a valid SIM with no PIN lock to activate the phone. It wont let me enter the phone even just to use it for WiFi or applications.

What should I do? Itunes wont sync it. I have friends with an iPhone 4 from AT&T, can I use their SIM just to activate this phone?

Just insert one of your friends sim cards in it and then sync with iTunes. Once it's done syncing you can give the sim back to your friend and it should be all good
