Had to happen eventually- after 4 months of handling the phone with ultra careful hands, it fell victim to the kitchen floor today!
The impact has left a very small dent on the lower right corner in the steel band and the plastic surround around the front screen. Thankfully, the glass is ok and the plastic bit isn't that noticeable being black. The light catches the ding in the steel band though and having OCD, I keep looking at it!
Oh well- time for a case!

yes put a case on or you won't stop looking.

I know they are bulky, but I put a Otter Box Defender on mine since day one and I just put a Zagg Invisible Shield HD screen protector, then removed the Defenders built in screen protector. Works like a charm.

Even a Commuter would do you good.

I've got the Otterbox Commuter and love it. Slightly smaller than the Defender but great protection.

LOL, so many people recommend the otterbox Defender. Personally I have not seen a bulkier, uglier case for the Iphone. Unless you plan on driving over the phone several times or throwing it against the wall in a temper tantrum, the Commuter case is more than enough. Neither of those IMO are as protective as the Lifeproof case, which adds waterproof protection for those nasty drops into glasses of water, sink, tub, toilet, etc (All of those have happened to poor souls, lets not kid ourselves lol). Why someone would ugly up the phone with a defender case is beyond me unless they are in an environment with high impact probability (construction, demolition, cage fighting, etc). To each their own I guess.

I use the Commuter case at work, an Incipio case for home or social times, and a Lifeproof for those days at the lake or trips to the coast. Whatever you choose, naked is a very poor choice (as long as we are only talking phones lol).

It took me a week to decide what type of case I wanted for my 4S. I finally decided on the OtterBox commuter series case, it's not real bulky and it almost doesn't look like there is a case on the phone. I also put the Zagg invisible shield HD on the front screen.

I work in one of those environments, heavy recovery and light duty towing. Plus, I like the look of my bulky case. LOL!

I knew I should have left my phone in my other trunks during that last Ultimate Fighting Championship bout. When he roundhoused me into my phone I was glad for the Defender but distracted enough that I lost the match when he glanced off my left shoulder into my cheek and broke that little bone under my eye. The phone survived, but I didn't.
