Email Stopped Working

Soooo....I went to check my email when a message "Cannot Get Mail The user name or password for 'imap.gmail.com' is incorrect" decided to pop up on my iphone 4. The last time something like this happened I couldn't get to my email for months. I know my password. I know my user name. The account has been synched to my phone forever. Why does this happen? How can I fix it? Is this an iphone issue or a gmail thing. Someone please help I really hate this!

Did you try logging into email from the website? Sometimes they make you change your password or verify it on the site

It's a problem with your mail server.It will sort itself out.

@MwSlim: Thanks, your idea worked...or maybe it finally fixed itself but it worked immediately after I tried logging in through the web browser! Good $h!t! Do you know why it makes you do that? I'd like to avoid it as much as possible...

I've had that happen to me once before, I think it's a security precaution or something
