Facebook and Twitter

Does anyone know if apple is planning on letting websites open fb and twitter apps? If I'm on a website and want to "like" it on fb, it opens a page in safari and I have to log in. Same with twitter. Why doesn't it just open the app? I'm already logged in to the app.

Whilst it is possible for website code to launch apps, I believe it is down to the app developers and not Apple, to publish the code that allows this to happen.
