Facebook app won't show my new messages

I have the Facebook app and when I get the red number by the icon, letting me know I have a new message/comment, I open the app, but no new message appears, nor does there seem to be a way to check. I close the app, go back and open it again, but it still doesn't tell me who posted to my wall, sent me a message or what. Is there a way to check this in the app?

It's a bug of facebook app. When you receive new notification the bagde will display 2 and when you check your Facebook, there will be only 1 notification. The bug goes and come back.

dunno if its a feature of ios 5 but when ppl send me fb messages i get a text and it lets me reply free unlike twitter that charges you to reply

I just scroll down and let go so it refreshes the messages/notifications.
