On Tuesday, Facebook seems to be making its way into the mobile payment market. The company announced a new feature that allows Facebook Messenger users to send payments virtually back and forth within the app.
The new money sending feature will be found in Messenger, on the same bar that holds icons for Camera and Stickers above the keyboard. After a user taps on the "$" icon, Facebook will then prompt for a debit card to use for the transaction. The user will then choose the amount to pay and easily verify the payment with Touch ID.
The recipient can then add his or her own debit card to have the payment transferred to a bank account. Transfers can take one to three days for the money to be available. Facebook promises to have top notch security with the feature, when it rolls out over the next few months in the US.
