You know you've made an impact in people's lives when they hold a birthday party in your honor, even after you have passed on to the next world. That is precisely what some fans of the late Steve Jobs are doing for him today. The New York Post reported yesterday that a huge celebration for Mr. Jobs is being held today by fans. The party will "go on" outside of Apple's flagship New York City retail store.
One of the party organizers said, Hes part of the culture now, I dont think theres any avoiding it. If you want to respect his memory, the best way of doing it is focusing on a lot of the positive memories we have of him." The event is planned for 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Strangely, Apple, the company Mr. Jobs co-founded has kept quiet about it today. Perhaps they just want to commemorate his memory quietly. Regardless, many other fans have not been mum. In fact, the official Twitter account of General Electric wrote, "Happy Birthday Steve Jobs. Innovation wouldn't be the same without you."
Indeed, it won't. He is missed.
The above is a video of a Steve Jobs's commencement speech to graduates of Stanford University in 2005, in which he spoke about his thoughts on life and death.
