SlashGear reports today that the FCC may just have given the game away as regards the size of the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S batteries. You might remember that during this Tuesday’s unveiling of the two new iPhones by Apple, the fact that the new phones would have bigger batteries was alluded to during the keynote, but not much more was said on the matter in terms of actual stats.
Now, however, the FCC has enlightened us all by publishing documents that provide detailed information about the battery size of the two new iPhones. In the documents, the FCC says that the iPhone 5S has a 5.96 battery, producing 3.8 V, making it approximately 1570 mAh. The iPhone 5C’s battery is 5.73 Whr, or 1507 mAh, also providing 3.8V. This is in contrast to the iPhone 5’s battery, which SlashGear says is 5.45 Whr, or 1440 mAh, also producing 3.7 V.
So basically, this means that the iPhone 5S has a 10% larger battery than the iPhone 5, and the iPhone 5C has an approximately 5% bigger battery than the current iPhone. This should, hopefully, mean that your new phone will go for longer between charges, although it will also take longer to charge, being bigger.
