Finally Jailbroke, but need some help

I finally did it, but now I need to learn what is possible and what is right for me. I have yet to find a good website that walks newbies through using Cydia and all the other choices out there. Anyone know of such a place on the world wide web?
Thanks ahead of time, and yes I have read all the hack sections but I am not so interested in looking to see what others have done if I don't understand how I might be able to duplicate it, or tweak it to make it right for me.

cydia has a tutorial built in. best of luck! JBing was the best thing I did. there is a sticky for jb apps around here too you should check out.

Thanks I will see if I can find it. I downloaded logome to try and change the boot logo. I entered the url of the image that I wanted but it didn't work. I then tried it through Cydia using the search for Boot Logos. The problem is very few of images that you can preview. When I finally found one that I liked I tried to install it but nothing worked. I am getting real frustrated at this point. All I have is a cydia app and a clear notification drop down menu, and the toggles from SMS to show for jailbreaking. Thanks for the help.
