First iPhone...blaah!

Hey,

I'm new to the old iphone but since my old phone died a long and tragic death only 4 months into a two year contract, I was kindly donated an iphone 3gs by my stepafther. I however, would like to unlock it and have been perusing the web on how to do it.

I'm here because I'm a complete and utter technophobe and would like my phone unlocked, and obviously I wanna get the most out of it.

if you could tell us what baseband and firmware you are on please..

tap on settings then on general then on about and next to version for the firmware and then modem firmware for the baseband if you could let us know what is says next to both and i can show you a tutorial to unlock it if its possible
