MacRumors reports that photos have appeared on Weibo today that appear to be the first images of a working, powered-on iPhone 7. The photos, which were first shared by Chinese repair shop GeekBar on Weibo, show the powered-on iPhone running Apple’s testing software, SwitchBoard. They were first picked up by French website NWE, which reckons they are the real deal.
The phone shown in the pictures bears out many of the recent rumours about the next iPhone, such as the lack of a headphone jack, dual speakers, a larger rear-facing camera, antenna bands at the bottom and top of the phone, and a longer earpiece. And although it’s hard to tell for sure, based on the angle, the home button looks more like a physical home button rather than the rumoured touch-sensitive version.
It’s also worth noting that the phone says “iPhone” on the back, rather than iPhone S, or SE, making it more likely that the phone will in fact be called iPhone 7.
