Front facing camera black after screen replacement

So, I recently got my iPhone 6+ screen replaced, & that resulted in my front camera going black & my earpiece not working. I was told to get a new camera and proximity sensor replacement (picture for reference) but it STILL isn’t working. I was told it might be a hardware issue & a factory reset, restore & update could fix it.
I just really don’t want to pay an arm and a leg if my husband can fix it himself. (He used to work for a iPhone repair shop and has a kit)
Any thoughts on what else we can try??
I just want my camera back!!
