Halfbrick announced today that its smash/slash hit iPhone game, Fruit Ninja, has just been updated, with a new Game Center multiplayer mode one of the highlighted features of the update. Halfbrick says that Fruit Ninja is one of the first games ever to use Game Center for network multiplayer.
The new 1.4 update for the game enables you to log onto Game Center (provided you have it installed on your device, of course!), and then play a new multiplayer Fruit Ninja game against a random opponent by selecting Auto Match Up. You can also challenge one of your Game Center friends to a match.
Playing the game is simple: you have blue-outlined fruits, and your opponent has red-outlined ones. All you need to do is slice your own blue fruits and avoid your opponent's red ones. You will also come across rare white-outlined fruits, which can be sliced by either opponent and will reward you with extra points. Anyway you slice it (sorry!) building up combos will help you to rack up huge scores.
Halfbrick promise to continue to update Fruit Ninja with plenty of goodies in the future, such as Game Center leaderboards and achievements, as well as a "secret banana mode", which they say is nearly complete. Not so secret now though!
