[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWDrz7lPW-g]YouTube - In-car iPhone robot[/ame]
Engadget reports on a car dashboard of the future seen at the North American Auto Show in Detroit today, that features a steering wheel complete with an iPhone embedded right slap bang in the centre. The dashboard and steering wheel have been designed by a company called Denso, and feature an iPhone-controlled electronics system that can do the most amazing things, such as telling you when traffic lights are about to change and what speed you should be going to get through before they go to red. According to Engadget the main aim of this feature is to save fuel by minimising your stopping and starting.
Other widgets controlled by the iPhone include a web cam that lets you know if youre too drowsy to drive when it sees your head start to droop and your eyes start to close.
All very fascinating stuff, although I did like one of the comments below the post that asked where's the air bag situated now if the iPhone is sitting plum in the middle of where youd usually find an airbag?
