Getting no alert sounds in screen-lock

iPhone 6 iOS9

The Ringer Volume is maxed out, under [Settings][Sounds] I've verified all my sound settings and I can hear them.

With my phone locked I got 3 texts withing the last hour, the alert display was there BUT I did NOT hear the alert sound I had set.

Any ideas

Have a look at the mute button on the side of the phone, Is it set to off? Showing Orange?

I, along with many family and friends are having the same problem. We have to reboot our phones 1 or 2 times daily to prevent the alert tones from being muted. It's an iOS 9 problem some are having and I've not been able to solve except for rebooting daily

Totally forgot the button was there. Only had my iPhone for 4 days.
