The Google Mobile Blog has announced that the Google Mobile App for iPhone has been updated to include the Google Goggles feature, which uses your iPhone to help you to find out more about your surroundings simply by taking photos. To use Google Goggles in the updated version of the app, simply tap on the camera button to search with Goggles. Goggles will then analyze the image, highlighting anything that it recognises. You can then click on those results to find out more about the object, or place, highlighted.
The blog is very honest in saying that Goggles isnt quite perfect yet, as although it is very effective when it comes to recognising landmarks, logos, books, DVD and game covers, it doesnt yet work for such things as animals, plants or food.
Download Google Mobile for iPhone here for free, bearing in mind that Google Goggles is only enabled for English speakers at the moment, and that as it needs an auto-focusing camera in order to work, it's only supported for iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 running iOS 4.
