GPP sim to unlock but not picking up signal ios7

I have a Sprint 4s that I want to use with T-Mobile. The phone is automatically picking up Sprint's signal and not registering T-Mobile network.

The phone is brand new (still in plastic) so hardware is good. It registers iccid in settings as well.

I have installed the patch required for the unlock. Any ideas?

What patch? Do you have to jail break maybe?
