Guardian photographer uses only iPhone to capture Olympic Games & related moments

The Olympic Games are a multicultural platform, and are ripe for some weird stuff to happen. Unlike most sports photographers who have armed themselves with Nikons and Cannons , Dan Chung of the Guardian is doing his job at the Olympics by using just an iPhone. Another curiosity is that he’s not just snapping photos of athletes competing for the golden medal but of everything that catches his attention - action shots, portraits of fan or curios souvenirs.

It seems that the dogma according to which you need a DSLR camera to take artistic photographs or even newspaper worthy pics is slowly fading into nothingness and Chung proves it beyond doubt. His photoblog represents a wonderful memento of unique Olympic moments, despite him using just his iPhone camera. Of course some of the photos have been edited with the Snapseed app. Chung also used a clip-on Schneider lens plus a pair of Canon binoculars to get the spectacular shots.

The best part is, when you are using an iPhone you don’t have to worry about hurrying home or finding the nearest Wi-Fi, photos can go directly online without much trouble. The idea of leaving heavy kits behind and unnecessary laptops and memory cards might appeal to a lot of photographers who will feel a lot lighter and more creative by just carrying a slim iPhone.
