HELP! How to upgrade 14pro max with iOS beta18.0 to 15pro max with Beta 18 installed

Just wondering, if I now have an iPhone 15pro max, will I be able to do the usual upgrade from older iPhone 14 Pro Max phone to newer 15 pro max phone, even though mine is running the beta iOS 18.0 (22A5338b) ?

I am really concerned I might lose my data as maybe the Beta won’t just transfer straight will it with a standard usual phone to phone migration as I have done before? It’s the first time I have ever installed betas since the last time I upgraded iPhone.

The iPhone newer 15 pro max has 512gb and so has the 14pro max

I have 328gb free on the 14 pro max

I "think" I have everything backed up to the cloud but never 100% - hope I have.

If I'm understanding right, your 14PM is on the iOS beta, and the 15PM you just got is still on iOS 17.

In this case, you'll want to wait a little bit until iOS 18 is released to the public, most likely today or tomorrow. Then upgrade your 15PM to the official iOS 18 release.

With your 15 on iOS 18, you should have no issues transferring your data over from your 14 to your 15. I did this last year when my 14 was on iOS 17 beta, and my 15 I got was on 17.0.

Hi there, thanks for responding. I’m not sure what the 15PM is on as it’s in set up mode?

How can I check this when it’s in set up mode?

Hopefully today they will release 18 as I have sold the 14PM on eBay and the buyer is waiting for me to post it.

Just hope he’s patient a little more whilst I wait for 18 to go live. Which I suspect I will somehow need to update the 15PM but got no idea how you do this?

iOS 18 will be launching next Monday...

You can try restoring the new iPhone from a backup when you are in the setup process. It's possible that when you select your iCloud backup, or quick start from the new iPhone, it will prompt you to update your iPhone's software to the iOS 18 beta.

Is it possible to skip and then sort it out once I have checked if it does prompt me to upgrade as you say?

Yep, you can always skip as long as you have access to WiFi.

You can easily transfer an eSIM in settings, here is the Apple article linked:

Yep, you can always skip as long as you have access to WiFi.

You can easily transfer an eSIM in settings, here is the Apple article linked:

Well it doesn't work. Firstly it wouldn't automatically migrate from the phone being nears it gets past the scan of one phone to another but then just goes round again and makes you do it again and again and never gets past the same bit.

Then I try migrating from my iCloud backup....

And literally it doesn't like iOS18
Don't really want to go back to June at all.

I don't believe so. The 15PM is slightly (Extremely slightly) smaller than the 14PM. It may work, but I would probably just buy a 15PM one to be safe.
