IHi I have a new (less than a week old) iPhone 4
iOS 5.01
Redsnow jailbreak
Ultrasnow unlock
Was working fine

Then added app iBooks from apple app store
It errored saying re install or restore backup
I have not made a backup yet

How can I start again

Have iOS 5.01

Do I restore original iOS and jailbreak again ?

don't mind starting again but you can watch the battery perscentage drop

Ruined a brill phone

Help appreciated

Thanks

Hi there. First of all, you NEVER "restore from backup" when you have a jailbroken iphone, you always install a fresh ios and SETUP AS NEW.

Is your phone able to turn on? If so, hook it up with itunes, and right click on the device and do a TRANSFER PURCHASES (after you have gone to Preferences and AUTHORIZED PC, and also logged in with your Apple ID).

Also right click and BACKUP IPHONE.

Download the MyContacts Backup from AppStore to do a very easy and fast contacts backup, and also go to "My Computer" where you can see your iphone as a usb device and pull out all the photos for storing on the computer.

Then, you should use redsn0w and make a new custom ipsw (or use the one you have already), and make sure you put the phone in PWNED DFU before you restore with the custom ipsw (you can do this by running redsn0w - extras - PWNED DFU, as to avoid errors).

If you need any help, let me know.

Thanks for the help

Yes the iPhone turns on fine

One point do I first restore an original firmware 5.01 or just restore the red snow modified iOS over the current jailbroken iOS

Thanks

You first restore the original 5.0.1 and then when you are done with that, you do the jailbreaking process again.

Always a clean restore/setup as new before a jailbreak. Otherwise you will leave bits and pieces from the previous jailbreak and have issues.

Thanks for all your help
