my iphone 4 fell into the sink full of water! now it's not playing songs neither alone or with the headphones and when I call someone I can't hear then but they can hear me. also, when on the ipod trying to play some music the volume bar is not appearing anymore! does anyone know what happened and how to solve it?
thanks very much and sorry for my bad english, I'm brazilian :)

hi,from posts i have read the favourite seems to be to put your phone in a bag of dry rice for a few days......it would seem the dry rice absorbs the moisture.

It's worth starting to save for a new iPhone just invade it failed in the future. It isn't uncommon for a water damaged phone to suffer some corrosion on the main logic board. Just a thought.

most of the time the rice will work but i would test and make sure everything worked on it like does ur music and everything work the same as before

If there was only a way to pull the battery. Then you could use distilled water and flush the contaminates out that cause the corrosion. Did it to a old Motorola I dumped in the lake and left it in rice for three days, phone work perfectly.

Glad the rice trick worked for the OP!

Rice has always worked, even with other electronic devices. Something about the individual rice soaking all hydration from its near area. Either that, or alcohol. Alcohol is another solution if you're in a rush, and know how to open up the iPhone. Use Q-Tips and dab small amounts of alcohol safely around non-circultry parts. Hopefully, that makes sense. I've done this to a MacBook pro. Cheers,

PLEASE DO NOT USE ANY SORT OF LIQUID ON YOUR PHONE! Distilled water and alcohol (talking about drugstore alcohol- not just things you pull off your bar shelf :) ) can cause more damage to your phone than the initial exposure.

Let me be more specific about my phones case. The Motorola was DOA and was resting six foot in silt and dirt. I washed it out with distilled water to flush the dirt out. It was a long shot, but this should never be done to a iPhone! These phones are sealed in a different way. Also, the Motorola was a Cinderella story, I would never expect this out of another phone.

When I posted above, I was merely stating something I had done almost six years ago, and the phone was a total loss anyways, so doing what I did couldn't have made it any worse.

Please don't try what I did, I would hate for someone to make their phone worse.
