i don't think that's what he meant. i knew you can see sites visited, etc. but you can't see keystrokes, screen data (without password access) - so no one could ever see the numbers i'm adding to my quicken register. that's the point i was making. all you can see thru the router (without password access to the computer bearing the mac address you're observing) is "who is connected" (by ip/mac address) and url's visited. am I missing something?Sure it is, whoever the network administrator is, they can log into the router and see the network activity of all connected devices.
ok then. yes. the sites you are accessing when connected to public wifi can be seen by the administrators of the network. only 3G/4G cellular are encrypted.I want to make sure that no one, when I'm on a public protected network, is able to view that I'm even on. The reason is that I'm doing confidential work, and when I'm on my phone, on 3G its ok because AT&T encrypts it for me. But on wifi, the admin could see what websites I'm accessing (no porn, to clear that out) and potentially hijack the data. If my ip is masked or changing, they will have a much harder time doing that. It's only when I'm traveling and on a wifi net.
Nope. Sorry. So is there a way?
