MacRumors reports that Hipstamatic and Instagram, Apples iPhone Apps of the Year for 2010 and 2011 respectively, are about to announce that they are teaming up to enable photos that have been taken in Hipstamatic to be sent through to Instagrams social network with just one click. According to a story on Fast Company, the partnership would mark the first time that Instagram has made its platform API available to third parties, and would see Instagram moving towards a free-flow of photos into Instagrams network from other sources. When we launched, it was all about Facebook and Flickr and Twitter, and now were seeing a huge shift in our user base toward Instagram, Hipstamatic co-founder and CEO Lucas Buick told Fast Company. Weve never been a social networking company, but we clearly benefit from social networks. So this will be the first app outside of Instagram that lets you into their network. Thats pretty cool for us. No word as yet as to when this link up will be happening, but presumably it will involve some sort of update for both apps to enable the one-click facility.
