MacRumors reports that Home Depot seems to be phasing out Apple Pay at its stores. Although Home Depot has never been an official Apple Pay partner in the US, it does have NFC terminals at many of its stores, which has facilitated the use of Apple Pay.
This seems to be changing, however, according to a Reddit user who said that they had been told by Home Depot customer care that the company will soon be phasing out Apple Pay support at its retail stores. Apparently PayPal could be the company to benefit from this change.
“We currently do not accept Apple Pay in our local stores or online,” Home Depot told the Redditor. “We do have the option of using PayPal, in store or online. We may offer this feature in the future, but we currently do not have a time frame for this and if we are going to accept Apple Pay.”
However, MacRumors notes that other Redditors say that they have still been able to use Apple Pay in their local Home Depot stores.
