How do i force stop an app?

Ie: fb is giving me trouble, how can i get it to close and reopen without rebooting phone? I'm not jb anymore so can't restoring. Do I just need to do a power off on? Is that my only option?

Double tap home button and hit the x on fb

Some apps will freeze your device, in those cases, you'll need to reboot your device, either hard or soft reboot. In cases where you can go back to your springboard or interact with your device, double tap the home button for the background apps running and close them.

How about we do every step in order.

Double tap home button.
Hold down the Facebook app till it wiggles.
Press Red/White minus symbol on top left of Facebook app.

That will cause iOS to reload the App from scratch instead of using what is in memory.
