How Do I Remove Update Notification?

I have an iPhone 4 running ios5 software. I DO NOT wish to update to ios6. I like my Google maps. How do I get rid of the big red dot notifying me that the software update is available. I am afraid that I might accidentally run the update. Besides, I just hate looking at it.

If your phone is jail broken you can download a tweak in cydia that hides the notification. Idk of any other way
