How to access photos on my Iphone

Hello,

I'm having real trouble trying to access the photos on my phone so I can delete them. Looking on my phone I can I have up to a thousand photos on there, but I am unable to delete them manually from my phone. But even if I access my phone from my PC or through Itunes the photos don't exist.

Has anyone come across this issue before? How the hell do I free up the memory on my device? It's driving me insane, I've tried everything under the sun to try and get rid of these photos.
