How to change root password

So I have tried changing the root password through the terminal app on the cydia home screen, but the app won't start up.

What other ways can I change this password so that I can protect my phone.

no just terminal.. su root then passwd as you probably know. with rock when you open that it lets you change the password actually it advises that the password is apline and its not safe and lets you change it.. so install rock if terminal does not work

it is but he says terminal wont work... use rock if terminal does not work
