How to stream more than a couple of mins of video

I noticed that even if I wait an hour for a larger video to stream, the buffer does not save only a couple of minutes of video. By the way I'm using Safari. Is there any way to increase this temp. buffer size, so I can fully load lets say an episode of House, and then watch it with my cellular data and WiFi turned off?
