I have completely lost my Iphone!

Yesterday, I was stolen my Iphone 5 with ios 8. Activation lock turned on but I could not find mine because of no internet connection. I turned on lost mode and eraser data. 2 hours later, I cannot login my Gmail because the Password has been changed !! And my Facebook has been locked.I wonder why they can do it? I have just buy it for 3 days. I thought activation lock was good but now I changed my mind.
