i phone 4 Silent Mode

Hi everyone, I need a little help ? My i phone 4 has gone into silent mode and I caint change this, the button on the side of the phone looks as if its working, but doesnt change the silent mode. In the settings under the sound button page just above the Vibrate indication the word silent is there, any help to fix this would be great.

Maybe the volume is turned down? did you check that?

Mine says silent also not sure what that means but try a hard reset.
