i phone remote control

Hi
I have been given a UMC TV but without the remote control. I have been told I can download an app for one but they all seem very confusing! Can anyone help to tell me which app to download?

I am thinking that UMC TVs use an IR remote not a wireless remote. The iPhones and iPads do not have IR capability. You can use them as remotes for your iTunes on your computer/laptop as well as your Apple TV, but probably not for the UMC TV.

Someone more familiar with those sets may know different.
