So the other day I wanted to hide some files and I hid them in the iTunes Control folder, in the lowest level I could find (now it sounds like a terrible idea). And yesterday I discovered they were gone. Gone, simply gone. Not in any folder, not in the trash. They were nowhere to be found. I think it's probably because I synced with iTunes, so I want to know, is there a way to recover them? My last backup was done before I had those files, so that's not an option.

Thanks for your help.

Try:
var/mobile/Library/iFile/Trash?

And you do realize that iTunesControl is like the worst possible place you could store loal files.

There are so may places to store files, and there is Ben a feet specifically for storing outside files.

Its called /Volumes.

Nope, they aren't there. And yeah, I later realized it was a terrible idea.

Chances are that you cannot get tem back. They have most likely been over written.

The best place to keep any type I file is when you open iFile and tap the top left button til there's is no button to tap. Literally anywhere in that directory. But not the folders in thy directory...just that directory itself.

Or you can just create folders in media or documents. Or library. As long as you don't put them inside a folder belonging to something else! You could use /, but youre not gonna fit many porn vids on there!

I place everything in /Volumes.

That was made for literally random storage.

I use that for files I want access to on my phone. If I'm storing like a program, like iFaith, redsn0w or iREB, I generally place them in the "General Storage" tab in i-FunBox. Your cannot access the fliles stored in General Storage. Well maybe you could. I looked and I couldn't find it in iFile.

You have to have iFunBox to view it. I believe i-FunBox is the best SSH client I have ever used. Of your one who's has started or considered SSH, then I-FunBox is what I would recommend.

+1 for iFunbox, although it also has the most ridiculous name.
Recently though there has been released in English iTools(originally Chinese software), which has all the file browsing stuff PLUS you can sync content like iTunes. It's very cool but quite a lot to get your head round. iFunbox is more straightforward.
