MacRumors reports that it has received an image from an anonymous source that is claimed to be of a preproduction dummy unit for the forthcoming iPhone 7. If genuine, the dummy appears to confirm some recent rumours about the iPhone 7.
As expected, the new phone is almost identical in terms of form to the iPhone 6s. However, there are three main differences to note.
Firstly, the much maligned rear antenna bands have disappeared, leaving the rear of the phone with a much smoother appearance. This was something that was rumoured to be happening earlier this year.
Secondly, the dummy shows a Smart Connector port, with the Smart Connector heavily rumoured to be coming to iPhone since it first appeared on the iPad Pro.
Thirdly, and another popular change if true, is the fact that the camera lens does not protrude from the rear of the phone, unlike the bulbous camera array of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s.
Unfortunately it’s not clear from the image whether or not there is a 3.5mm headphone jack.
