iMessage Question

My wife and I have iPhones and usually use iMessage but for some reason they have switched back to regular SMS messages. Does anyone know how to get them to switch back to iMessage please ?

if you go into settings and messages you can turn off send as SMS.

Yes, it's a possiblity that one of you has toggled the "iMessage" setting off? As Ivy mentioned above, Settings>Messages.. at the top will be your toggle for iMessage. Check both iPhones... let us know where they're at and we'll proceed if needed.

Thanks for your help.

My wife's iMessage was switched to off, I've turned it on but now it says 'waiting for activation' and seems to be stuck.

I've turned it off and on but it still says the same message.

just try sending an iMessage,it will be blue,if its green its SMS.

Still green, it's frustrating me !

The only thing which may be causing a problem is that we share an apple ID but never had this problem on our iPhone 4.

It's only iphone 5s which have caused this.

try doing a hard reset,hold down the home button and on/off button until the apple appears,let go and wait for the phone to reboot then try again.

You cannot "turn off send as SMS." That's the default method that it falls to when iMessage fails.

In your Settings under Messages... what does your iPhones have listed under "Send and Receive at?"

We'll get you there one of these days... LOL!!! SMS is the basis of all text messaging... you cannot toggle it on or off. However, MMS and iMessage can be toggled on or off.

I'll check my phone here in just a little while when I'm off work... and I'll be certain to report back.
