Hi guys, I created a custom IPSW with redsn0w to preserve my iPhone 4 baseband and unlock it in iOS 5.0.1. It all went perfect. I jailbroke it and all.
The only problem is iMessage. It's just stuck to 'waiting for activation' for the past 12 hours now. I tried turning it off and on but no help.
Can you guys please help me with it?

Hi, please do not continuously bump your thread.

I can only think that the baseband preservation or the jailbreak itself is causing your issue. iMessage is working fine for me on all my devices. Search the forums to see if anyone else is experiencing similar problems or wait for them to reply here. Chances are that your not the only one.

You could always try a restore and fresh jailbreak as a last resort...

Go to settings>messages and under "receive at" remove your email and then readd it and it should activate.

Tried that many times already man. Didn't help. I saw a video on YouTube about it. Will share the link and will do the thing that guy has done once you guys have a look at it.

Now when I removed my email and when I tap 'use your Apple id for iMessage' my iPhone froze :/ had to use home and power button to restart :s

Hi!

Got exactly the same issue here and same symptoms.

But I'm not using a a custom IPSW as I am officially unlocked.

Got and iphone 4 running iOS5.0.1 freshly jailbroken with redsnow and pod2g untethered.

Can't activate imessage and freezes most of the time when I do anything in the message option.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ok for all those having the same issue I managed to fix the problem!

For me all I had to do was uninstall bitesms 6.1 then the messages settings didn't freeze anymore. So I created a new apple ID account to use as my imessage account and did all as normal without using the video method and it seemed to work I just had to wait a while until the message app offered me the blue send button once again.

After that I reinstalled bitesms and everything was still working fine as I even took off my sim and managed to send an imessage
