Incominng calls don't ring

I have an Iphone 6 running IOS 8.1.2. I'm having trouble with incoming calls not ringing. I have ringing turned on. It does ring about a third of the time. Otherwise, calls go straight to voice mail and I get a missed call message on the phone. I've tried a hard reset bit it didn't help. Does anyone out there have any ideas?

Two things to check. Make sure the "mute" button on the side of the phone has not been enabled accidentally. Also, make sure you have not accidentally enabled "Do not Disturb". You would see a little crescent moon icon in the task bar. You can select or deselect it in the notification center or from settings.

This is because you may have accidentally turned on the Do Not Disturb feature in Settings.
