Poison Maps is an innovative type of Maps application along the lines of Apple Maps and Google Maps, but with an emphasis on Points of Interest (hence "POIs on Maps") and the aim to be as useful as possible even when offline, for example when in the countryside or abroad (unlike other POI apps).
Poison Maps.
Here are some of its unique features:
1) the display of signs on the map to show POIs not in the visible area;
2) the display of POI names and thousands of logos to help distinguish POIs from each other (instead of identical pins);
3) POIs can be displayed using several modes, such as on a map, in a list, and also using a compass mode which is easy to see (handy when cycling etc) and works anywhere in the world;
4) a unique new patent-pending one-touch panning gesture that should also be particularly useful on future smartwatches (where it will be easier than pinching).
As well as the $1.99 paid app there are 10 free regional versions that contain some of the most useful POI categories, with the rest available as an in-app purchase. As well as being free these versions are also a lot smaller to download (for example 26Mb for North America instead of 360Mb for the 15 million POIs covering the whole world).
Free Regional Versions
The app is designed to be fun to use (especially if you like maps) with loads of configuration options to play with. Please give it a go and let us know what you think!
