Installing new applications

I have just got an iphone, I previously used windows phone. Hence a silly question! How do I install new applications on the iphone. I can see them in my mobile applications folder but cant load them. I must be doing something wrong! please help

You can download apps via iTunes Store on the computer or from the App Store in your iPhone. But you will need an Apple account to be able to do so.

there is an app icon on your home screen called "app store" tap on that icon to enter the application store, once there, you can use the serach featuer to quickly locate an app you know and you want to find. or you can use the top 10 or 25 feature in the app store to check about new apps. before you can install applications on your phone you will need an itunes account. But once you tap on a app to install on your phone, a dialogue will pop up asking you to login yout itunes account or to create a new itunes account, just follow the instruction to create you new itunes account.
