International calling

Any one know if we can do something to the iPhone 4 that will allow us to use it internationally for calling and data? I need to travel to costa rica and Verizon told me I would have to get a loner phone for my trip? What if the phone was unlocked? Any help or info would be great thanks!

Yours cant be unlocked or used in Costa Rica. Only the 4S can be used internationally, because it is a world phone and it has a SIM card slot. The 4 is no good for overseas. Hope this helped

The CDMA (Verizon) iPhone 4 isn't an unlockable iPhone. Only the GSM (At&t) iPhone 4 can be unlocked and used on a different carrier than originally purchased for. Sorry... :-9

True. The 4S will work overseas on their GSM networks. I was just pointing out, since the OP made mention of the iP4, that only the GSM iP4 could be unlocked.
