We knew it was coming soon, but didnt realise that soon meant right now! MacRumors reports that Apple has today released iOS 4.3.3 for compatible iPhones, iPads and iPod touches, with the main purpose of correcting the location data tracking bug. According to the note that pops up when you update, iOS 4.3.3 contains changes to the iOS crowd-sourced location database cache, including reducing the size of the cache, stopping the backing up of the cache to iTunes, and deleting the entire cache when Location Services is turned off. It had been rumoured that the update would also address battery drain issues, but this has not been officially announced. It will be interesting to see if there is any change though for those of us experiencing the problem. Boy Genius Report notes that Verizon Wireless iPhone 4 owners will have a separate update for their devices iOS 4.2.8 which does basically the same thing as iOS 4.3.3 does for the GSM iPhone 4.
