iOS 5 download issues

After trying for a week to update my iPhone (3gs) to iOS 5 and it timing out every time, I downloaded it from here instead (http://www.iphoneforums.net/forum/i...ple-ios-firmware-download-links-iphone-22984/). But, an error occurred and it failed about halfway through. Now, my phone's stuck with the connect to itunes screen, and I can't just restore it because obviously it will update to the newest software and it's timing out every time. Is there anything I can do to just get my phone working again, to be honest I'm not that bothered by the iOS 5 as long as it works, I really need it for work and things. Any help is much appreciated, I'm desperate!

it is available for the 4 and the 3gs if you want. you dont have to buy the iphone 4S just for ios 5

If I understand you correctly and you are trying to install IOS 5.0 and not 5.0.1, then you cannot do that. It is impossible to install 5.0 now.

That will get you back up and running on stock 5.0.1
