As plenty of previous reports were suggesting, Apple was expected to come up with some serious improvements to its mapping application. In the upcoming iOS 9 version, Apple will give Apple Maps users the ability to receive public transit directions, which is a feature that Apple's OS lost when the company replaced Google Maps with its own software in 2012.
The long-awaited feature covers bus, ferry, subway, and train routes. In its initial stage, launch cities in the US will include Baltimore, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Washington DC. Transit directions will also be available internationally in London, Toronto, and Berlin. The updated Maps app will support public transit in 300 cities in China, as well.
