ios and wirless sync

An any one explain to me on how the sync works i updated to ios 5 but it dont sync with my laptop it says it will when my laptop is available and my laptop is on please help

You also must have iTunes running while the laptop is on. IE launch it and then minimize it. Then try to backup.

It would be nice if you had the option of running the iTunes sync as a service. Then you wouldn't have to actually have iTunes open to sync - you'd just have to have the computer up and running. QuickBooks (for example) does this in multi-user mode on networks. I'll put that on my wishlist. Are you listening Apple?

If you have the Sync by WiFi option enabled and iTunes is running WiFi Sync can be launched manually from within iTunes by clicking Sync or on the device under Settings ---> General --> iTunes Wi-Fi Sync --> Sync Now.
